Sister Eileen McGovern, BVM (James Leone)

Sister Eileen McGovern, BVM (James Leone) was born in Dubuque, Iowa. Sister taught elementary school in Lincoln, Neb.; San Francisco; and Des Moines, Iowa. She taught on the university level in Bogotá, Columbia, and Salta, Argentina. She ministered as school social worker in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

In Dubuque, Sister taught at Clarke University, where she was sociology department chair. She was psychiatric social worker in Dubuque/Jackson County, clinical social worker at the Gannon Center, and speech/Spanish therapist and family/marriage counselor for Catholic Charities. She served the BVM congregation as vice president and later as pastoral care volunteer at Mount Carmel.
